Vacancy - SENIOR TRAFFIC ENGINEER/TRANSPORT PLANNER


Traffix Group is seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer/Transport Planner to join its design team.

You will have a desire to continue to develop a rewarding career in the traffic & transport industry. You will have a ‘hands-on’ role in managing a broad range of traffic engineering and transport planning projects undertaken across the company for government and private sector clients.

Your role will be responsible for:

  • Managing projects from inception to completion and managing multiple projects, work priorities and workloads to deliver on time and budget
  • Preparing fee proposals for assigned projects.
  • Assisting in establishing new clients and procuring repeat business from existing clients.
  • Working effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and to negotiate, influence and secure agreements from government agencies and other stakeholders
  • Presenting at internal meetings, public meetings and other fora and presenting expert testimony at planning panels and VCAT, where appropriate
  • Assigning, directing, coordinating and supervising work of other professional and technical staff, including staff they have or share responsibility for.
  • Assisting in the professional development of junior staff, reviewing work for technical accuracy, quality and adequacy against project requirements.
  • Assisting in achieving Traffix Group objectives, including marketing activities and business development.

About You

We expect that the successful candidate would have:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent.
  • 3+ years relevant experience, preferably in a similar industry or professional services environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively without direction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • The ability to apply sound judgement, professional traffic engineering and transport planning knowledge to all tasks to achieve project outcomes.
  • Excellent analytical and report writing skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, SIDRA and other simulation models.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant legislation, technical standards and guidelines.
  • An understanding of Traffic Engineering principles, procedures and practices, and the ability to apply these to solve problems.
  • A current valid Australian driver’s licence.
  • Appropriate Australian or New Zealand Work Visa.
