Traffix Group adapted its robust driver distraction assessment framework, usually used for digital advertising signage, to assess a proposed helicopter landing site in Wodonga—demonstrating that robust road safety tools can offer insight far beyond their typical use.

This approach has also been used to evaluate distraction risks from wind turbines, showing its versatility across diverse planning scenarios.

Expert evidence was presented at VCAT by Charmaine Dunstan, supported by James Young, contributing to a successful planning outcome.

Traffix Group’s involvement in this project included preparation of expert witness and presentation at Planning Panels for the applicant in relation to the traffic and transport impacts of the proposed wind farm.

Traffix Group provided traffic and transport engineering services through the town planning process and expert witness work through two VCAT hearings.

Following the issue of a permit, we prepared a further transport impact assessment, advised on mitigating works and prepared a Road Safety Audit report.

We built a comprehensive case that a car-free development could work in this location without disadvantaging other residents or creating on-street parking problems.
