Traffix Group prepared the Avalon Airport Ground Transport Plan, which sets out the ground transport management focus over the short, medium and long-term, consistent with the airport’s Master Plan.

The considerations included passenger movement and amenity, vehicle access, parking for private cars, taxis and hire cars, vehicle circulation including freeway access, public transport and cycle access, commercial and freight transport access.

Specific consideration was given to staged ground transport upgrade requirements for the airport and its precinct developments into the future.

Traffix Group undertook a Car Parking Framework Review for the central business activity areas of Morwell and Traralgon, which recommended reduced car parking rates being introduced into the Latrobe Planning Scheme via a Parking Overlay, as well as a cash-in-lieu mechanism being introduced for development within Traralgon.

Challenges with this project included balancing competing long term and short term demands for parking, consolidation of former parking strategies into a single cohesive document including targeted analysis to justify recommendations, establishing appropriate boundaries for the parking overlays to apply, preparation of draft Planning Scheme Amendment documentation necessary to seek Ministerial Authorisation and responding to submissions in relation to exhibited documentation.

The Planning Scheme Amendment was adopted, and the reduced car parking rates and cash-in-lieu mechanism is now included at Clause 45.09 of the Latrobe Planning Scheme.

Traffix Group has provided ongoing traffic engineering services to this Prep to Year 12 school in Melbourne’s rapidly growing north-west.

Our initial review of traffic and car parking conditions in and around the school resulted in a ‘moving queue’ drop-off and pick-up facility within the school.

We then provided traffic engineering input into the master plan for the school’s planned expansion.

Traffix Group collaborated with Council and the Victorian Planning Authority to develop a transport plan for a new residential precinct comprising approximately 800 hectares and accommodating in the order of 5,000 new dwellings over a 40+ year development timeframe.

Challenges with this project included responding to existing site constraints and opportunities, establishing a hierarchy of streets, pedestrian and cycle paths, managing the traffic impacts in the context of the adjacent arterial road network including changed traffic distributions across the broader network due to the imminent construction of a second Echuca-Moama bridge crossing and provision for future public transport routes.

Xavier College engaged Traffix Group to provide traffic engineering services to help develop the Master Plan for Xavier College Senior Campus in Kew.

The Master Plan envisages an unprecedented transformation of structures and built form within the Senior Campus associated with relocating Year 7 & 8 students to the Campus.
